Next Board Meeting: Thursday September 3, 3-5 pm at the Beach Club
The Port Ludlow Village Council is excited to announce its Second Annual Canine Costume Contest to be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026. Just in time for Halloween, dog owners will dress their canines in comfortable costumes and follow a short parade route along the waterfront, led by a Grand Marshall. Our esteemed judge will select a winner for first, second, and third place. A prize will be awarded for each of the three winners. Dogs must have up-to-date rabies vaccinations to participate.
There will also be an opportunity for pet owners to submit one online photo of any pet. Photos will then be showcased on our website.
New This Year!
Scarecrow Walk:
Homemade Scarecrow creations will be displayed along the Scarecrow Walk, during the Canine Costume Parade.
Free to enter and attend, open to all. Super prize for "BEST IN CROW," community vote during the event; winner announced at the end of the event. Must be present to win.
Scarecrow is a loose term; feel free to think outside "the field" - enjoy being creative and kudos for using as much recycled and recyclable material as possible.
Teams can be an individual or up to 4 people maximum; family, friends, co-workers, neighbors.
Pre-registration via the following form is required.
Scarecrows must be self-supporting (it may not be possible to stake them into the ground, so please consider an alternative like a T-frame in a weighted bucket) or seated (on the ground or in a chair), non-political, and checked in at the Scarecrow check-in table between 9 and 10 a.m.
PLVC will assign each scarecrow a number for voting and placement along the parade route. You may also display your team/business/scarecrow name on or next to your scarecrow, if desired.
One vote per person; voting will open at the Scarecrow check-in table at 11 am.
Scarecrows must be removed by their creators following the event at 1 pm.
The check-in table will not open before 9 am and will close promptly at 10 am. This will enable time to set up your scarecrow, check out the competition, and then enjoy the PLVC's famous bake sale and coffee, cheer on or participate in the canine costume parade, visit with the attending vendors and nonprofits, and enjoy a fun community day out
Purchase lunch from The Fireside Inn booth, stop by our famous bake sale table, or visit the on-site animal shelter representatives. For inquiries, contact the Village Council at:
